Our Ever Rising Budget

Money Matters (our ever rising budget)
We understand that Mr. Talmage complains semi-privately that we are being too picky about his handling of town finances, because we point out the never-ending string of mistakes.  After all, most of his mistakes are small, amounting to a few dollars – perhaps a few hundred.  Well here is one that does not seem small to us.
Mr. Talmage gave the town board members an accounting of the town’s finances for the first nine months of this year, and as part of that he gave the total of fines received by the town as $232,094.  Actually he is showing $35,980 more than we received, because he double-listed the fines for September.  We reprint the page from the town’s official financial books.
Oh well, it is only a $35,980 mistake – nothing to get excited about!  Or is it?  Mr. Talmage would like a large raise this year because, he tells us, he is putting in 20 to 25 hours a week.  Maybe so, but it is not on keeping the town books.
And that is the job he was elected to do!

There is a report circulating in Milan that Ross Williams and Van Talmage had a meeting with a representative of Red Wing to discuss the lawsuit Red Wing has against the town. The Red Wing representative proposed that if the town changed its zoning and premit mining, it would drop the lawsuit and give the town $1,000,000.00. Councilman Williams, said, it was not enough. He did not question if the proposal was legal, a bribe or if it was taking into consideration his Turkey Hill Neighbors. All he cared about was the money, he wanted more.
Turkeyhillers, do not feel so secure in whom you voted to protect your interest. It is said, everyone has his price, it seems Williams has his.

I'm neither a fan of Mr. Talmadge nor Mr. Ross but I find this a little hard to believe. Rumor and innuendo?
If the report circulating is in fact true, then post the name or names of people who are making the accusation.

Check with Appraiser Bob, he has all the inside scoop. Bob knows what is happening in Milan. If Bob says "It ain't true", then it ain't true.

The fact is that Red Wing is very able to pay off Councilman Ross William's demands for a million dollars. While it may be shameful and disgusting to all of us, he seems to have no problem selling out his neighbors.

Truth be told, when he was at IBM the reality was that he often "sacrificed his fellow employees (even some higher ups) so that he could advance himself; this is fact.

When he ascended unto Milan we were told it was to protect the interests of the Turkey Hill folks, the reality again is that he is protecting his own tail and doesn't care whether or not he has some short term losses in relationships. it is about getting re-elected.

Appraiser Bob has spoken. If you still doubt Williams' betrail of his fellow man, ask Talmage, he was there, members of the board also knew about it. But then when did that bunch ever tell the truth?
The meeting took place in the town hall.

Appraiser Bob has spoken - please tell me you have not given Bobbi Egan that much power - she thinks Ron Truadt is a "peach of a guy" - Let's go back to Anonymous from above "If the report circulating is in fact true, then post the name or names of people who are making the accusation." Be proud - say your name out loud.

Who was at the meeting? Hmmm, how about the Doherty's, Ross WIlliams and Van Talmage...is that clear enough in terms of "names?"

Duh - I think the blogger is looking for the names of the people speading the rumors - not who was at the meeting.

That $1,000,000 dollars will come in handy to pay for all these accounting errors and increases in the payroll!
