New Low for Williams and May

Ex-Boss Williams and his sidekick Squeaky May have entered the New Year by displaying a new low. Not only are they not satisfied to continuously disrupt the proceeding of the town government with their lists of amendments, but now they feel they must attack the great tradition of West Point Military Academy.

They have circulated an e-mail to their cronies accusing Councilman David Byrne of undemocratic behavior as he and other members of the Town Board refused to entertain their disruptive immature behavior. They said that Mr. Byrne had forgotten what he had learned at West Point; Duty, Honor and Country and that he should resign his position on the Board. When it comes to Duty, Honor and Country, Mr. Williams or Mrs. May are in no position to question Councilperson Byrne on his duty and honor to his country. How much Duty and Honor have either of them shown to the United States? Have either of them been to Iraq and put their lives on the line for their country? Councilperson Byrne did it twice.
So shut you pair of sniveling babies and remember who it was that got Milan into its financial mess, Williams, Talmage, May and Clark. If you can’t serve on Board as responsible representatives of the citizens you should resign

Is this new low the "era of change" that the Democratic party seeks for Milan?
Whoever wrote that trash should be ashamed of themselves. Mr.Byrnes is to be thanked for his service to our country and to our community.

Is this the 2009 Milan Democrats' Platform? assault all who disagrees with them including West Point Military Academy. Who does R.Wiliams & D.May think they are to critize Mr.Byrne's military career. How much time did Mr Williams spend in the military? How much of his time did he sacrifice for his country? Mr. Byrne did two Tours of Duty in Iraq, Mr. Williams did his at IBM.

The once quiet, peaceful town of Milan had a very disturbing, unsigned letter circulated around town regarding Councilman David Byrne. Additionally, after the last Town Board meeting Councilwoman Diane May accused Byrne of being a disgrace to West Point.

Byrne is a Red Hook High alumni, went to West Point, received his commission and served five years in the US Army. The author of the letter failed to mention Byrne's two tours in Iraq. They didn't mention his Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge. They didn't mention that his son was without a father for a significant portion of his young life. They didn't mention that he lost his younger brother one year before his first deployment and his father during that deployment. They failed to mention that Byrne joined the National Guard after his release from active duty. They didn't mention that he (with two young children) could be activated at any time. They didn't mention all the good that he's done in one year in office. 1.Organized Milaners Youth Program 2.Organized Milan Community Day 3.Blazed a walking trail on town property 4.Spent countless hours working to straighten out Milan's finances and keep taxes as low as possible. And he's done much more.

David is a good neighbor and strong asset to our community. He served his country loyally and would do so again if needed. He doesn't deserve these remarks said about him. What he and all the other veterans deserve is a kind, "Thank you!"

Thank you and God Bless.
