Don't Drink the Water
At a recent Milan Town Board meeting it was announced the water from the well at the Recreational Park in Lafayetteville is unsafe. After a heavy discussion, the Gang of Four came up with a solution to the problem. They are going to put up a sign,”DON’T DRINK THE WATER”. That will solve everything. What has Milan become, a third world country where travelers are advised not to drink the water?
This bunch has no problem in spending tens of thousands of our dollars on every crazy scheme Williams and Lord Kingman can think up to curb our rights as citizens of Milan. Their solution to the problem of the drinking water is put up a sign. I just wonder when was the last time any member of that bunch was at the Rec. Park and needed a drink of water.
They have spent an untold amount on our money in lawyers’ fees on their Wetlands project. It’s another plan to deny us freedom of our own property. Instead of throwing money to the lawyers why not to up signs, “Don't go near the Wetlands”, as they are going to do with the water problem in the Rec. Park. It would cost a lot less than they are spending on lawiers and would be just as effective.
If they want to do something to benefit the people of Milan, give us back our gas station. Some of us have jobs and need gas to for the morning commute. But three of the Gang of Four are unemployed and the other is unemployable.

What You Should Know About Your Drinking Water
The U.S. and Canada, as well as most other industrialized nations, have a right to be proud of their drinking water. Safe public water is one of the triumphs of the last century.
This does not mean that there's nothing to be concerned about. Constant vigilance, research, and new investment are essential. Some drinking water may contain lead or dangerous levels of arsenic. Private wells, like municipal water supplies, need regular monitoring. Keeping the water supply safe is an ongoing concern of the government—and of the people.
What exactly is unsafe about the water supply at the recreation park. Shouldn't the public be informed?? E-coli, lead, arsenic? I wonder what this administration plans to do about it besides putting up a sign....How long has this water supply been unsafe?
Perhaps the health department could ensure our safety from the Town. Here's a number to call.
Dutchess County Health Department - Drinking Water Protection Program

Does anyone remember the public hearings three years ago for the Fire Department Contract? Does anyone remerber Councilperson Clark
postulating and promising to donate her salary from the Town Board to the Fire Departmant? Mrs. Clark, the Fire Department is still waiting for your donation. Three years is long enough.
Big News: Pauline and Howie Clark are planning to break camp again, this time they are moving to The People's Republic of Massachusetts. They have purchased 20 acres of land on which they are planning a housing project. These are the people that came to Milan 4 years ago opposing any kind of rural development. These are the ones that came here telling us how to run our lives. When they have done as much damage as they can here, they break camp and move on. Goodbye Pauline and Howie, don't let tbe door hit you on the ass on the way out. The People's Republic of Massachusetts deserves you.
Where does Milan United get its information that Pauline and Mr. Clark are leaving town? They are new residents in Milan and have served the town well. Mr. Clark's name is not Howie and does not appreciate being referred to thus.
If Milan United must refer to him again, please call him Mr. Clark.
Hi Pauline, sorry to hear you are leaving town. Before you go, are you going to give the Fire Departmant the year'a pay you promised them three years ago? They are still waiting. If your house was on fire would you like to have to wait three years for the fire Dept to show up. If you did not intend to give them the money, why did you open your big mouth and promise it.
you do know that there was never anything wrong with the water don't you? Or do you think saying the same lie over and over makes it "true"
More distortions instead of facts. The town doesn't own the gas station and can't make the owners build. The town had to force the current owners to clean it up. According to my friends in the New Paltz business community, where the new owner has another gas station, the Milan project hasn't happened because he got caught cheating his employees on their overtime and has to pay a million bucks to the government. His insurance company probably wouldn't pay for that very convenient fire either, so he's probably suing them. And the DEC, not the town, would be the ones who told him he had to fix the wetland back there. How is any of that the town's fault? And how exactly would the Republican candidates solve the problem? Would Dick "I'm A Lousy Real Estate Agent" Barrett offer to help them sell the property? Maybe Boy Wonder Byrne could buy it and put up a low-income housing project on it. Booby Egan wouldn't get involved, because according to her nobody should tell the owners what to do with their property.
I just hope Bud got his money OK.
Who reported the wetlands to the DEC?
Why would anyone want wetlands behind a gas station anyway?
